Sustainable Future Pool

The Sustainable Future Pool was established in 2017 with an initial allocation of $10 million from the University Trek Endowment. This pool will provide an alternative investment choice for investors that wish to invest in companies with lower CO2 emissions and avoid investments in the fossil fuel energy sector. The Sustainable Future Pool is currently invested in a balanced portfolio containing 70% equities and 30% fixed income managed by Jarislowsky Fraser.

Supplemental Arrangement

The Supplemental Arrangement is an extension to the UBC Faculty Pension Plan. It is a balanced portfolio containing 60% equities, 40% fixed income, serving about 1,000 members. The assets are managed by BlackRock Asset Management and administered by Sun Life Financial.

Working Capital Fund

The Working Capital Fund consists of monies from the reserves of the working capital pool of the university. These may include proceeds from provincial operating grants, tuition, private, corporate and government research grants, operating income and funds for capital projects. It is structured as a fixed income portfolio with investments in money market securities, short-term bonds and mortgages. Overall responsibility for the University’s cash management rests with UBC Treasury.
